Open House!
Time for my open house! There are a ton of pictures so I made them small in an attempt to appear less vain. Everything is in place except for a few textile items: namely pillow covers for my couch cushions and a fabric panel to hang down the wall that I've had my eye on, but they will have to wait their turn in line at our budget. Too bad because that will add the color, so if things seem a bit drab, please excuse.
We had to get ourselves some new shelving. There are always new things needed to adjust to a new space.
Dining Room. We were able to do a cheap fix (hide?) for the old 80s chandelier by covering it with a Japanese lantern. So much better! You can see our small patio out back and the mammoth apartment structure behind it. You've got to stand right up next to the glass and look up to see what kind of day it is. But I love having an outdoor space. I have some fun plans for it. Those plans, too, are in line at our budget.
Kitchen. And Cameron discovering the usefulness of our stool--another new item needed to reach the top shelves of our cupboards.

I like to keep my bathroom decor minimal. Besides the towels with circles woven into them, this is all there is.
Cameron's room is at the end on the left. His room is very big and still echos a bit even with all his things in it! We gave the big room to him so it could act as a playroom too. We felt bad about how cold the floor was and made sure to get him a rug to stand on while he played, even though we could have really used it in the front room for looks. That's one thing about decorating a house when you have a toddler: you have to make a lot of concessions, and I did. There is another mammoth apartment structure out his window as well.

I just had to show these big mirror closet doors that are in both rooms. Remember these?! He LOVES watching himself in them and the closets behind them are spacious; his room's closet is entirely devoted to storage. Nice!
We really love it here and even though there are things about living downtown, like no direct view of the sky and loud neighbors, we really like being close to Tyler's work (very few people with families get to bike to work here) and "the action." We'll make it to the suburbs eventually but we're in no hurry. I didn't think I would say this at such a young age, but I wouldn't mind staying in this city forever! Yeah, it's that good.
Front room: outside the glass door is the common patio. This door is the only window we get any direct sunlight from.

Amen to Austin being great!! Thanks honey for setting up such a great apartment for us.
Your apartment looks GREAT! It is really nice looking with the wood floors and how cool you have decorated it. I like the big window/sliding doors, even if you see the next building, you get more light. I like your shelves, book cases, and decor. Those are neat "lights" hanging by the kitchen. I bet Cameron does look at himself a lot. Good. He will develop a good self image! Don't you feel like a domestic goddess with a washer, dryer, and dishwasher? Thanks for the tour.
What a cute house you have! I am glad to see you guys have somewhere to live and that you found it so fast. You lucky kids. We sure do miss seeing you guys though.
sweet for you guys!

Wow! Everything looks great! I still can't believe you're already gone--I feel so bad that we never got to say goodbye. Glad you're enjoying Austin! My grandpa lives there, and I've always enjoyed it when we've visited him. Glad things are working out so well for you!
Very cute! Glad to see my grandson and his parents have a nice place to live. We can hardly wait to come visit!
Looks great! And I'm jealous of the dishwasher and washer and dryer. Oh well...someday. :) I'm glad you're enjoying Austin. :)

so I thoroughly enjoyed your tour! I clicked on every picture to see it big. I just like to see how people organize! So cute Mindy. Love your bedroom. Naomi has a matching dresser as you, except it's not EXACT same build, hers is lower, and wider(two drawers wide) you know what i mean? I LOVE they way it looks in her room! I got hers at DI and new paint job and I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. Where did you get yours?
Well anyway, thanks for the tour. I am going to adopt your term "getting in line with our budget." I wish I lived closer to you so you could rub off on me on your perfect budgeting. Do you have a specific program/system you use?

That's so great you love Austin so much! Do you like your neighbors (besides them being noisy, I mean)? I like your pad. So great for you guys. It's always so much fun having a new place, especially when there are upgrades like a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and a patio off the back of EVERY room! (: WOW! Awesome. I love that you displayed that chocolate plate that Heidi got you from Gabriel bros. What a great find!
I can just see Cameron loving on himself like crazy in those closet mirrors!! (: I like your new shelves too. James and I say that now we each have a sibling living in Austin, we'll have to come visit soon. (:
Cute home! I loved all the black and white pix in the dining room, and the way you did your room too. I think the photo albums look fine.
I am happy you like it so well there. Too bad you can't see the sky! HA!
