Show off time

One week to the big move (and drive) to Alabama. So seeing as I will very soon be moving most all of my possessions into Cameron's room (we are subletting) and locking them away for four months, I thought I would showcase the new improvements to my house made in the last four or so months. Because, come on, face it, my house is a hobby and a very real sense of joy to me.

Biggest and best change, a new (to us) TV and stand. I don't know if you remember what it used to look like so I posted one of what our "entertainment center" used to look like. A huge and welcome change and almost at no cost to us!
I spent time in January and February organizing/de-cluttering my photos, music, and movies. What else is there to do in those months but take on those sorts of projects? I got some storage boxes from IKEA and stashed my CDs in them and used a typewriter to type the labels. Who says storage has to be boring?Another storage solution from IKEA, a new magazine rack to house and display, out of Cameron's reach I might add, the 7 magazines we receive and browse every month. I gave our room a little face lift as well. It was looking bland and eclectic. I rotated out some of my decor and rearranged things a bit. Besides the $10 for a shower curtain to cover the closet (finally!), I am happy to say I spent no money on this project.
Here is a picture I painted of the tree outside our window. I'm not saying it is good or fancy but after extensive deliberation I decided it was exactly what the room needed, in this spot, to tie things together. Plus the microwave, router and cords really add to it. This is now where I used to have 4 Japanese block prints, you can see in the above "before" pic. This is nothing fancy either but we had to take down the full length mirror since Cameron was trying to put himself in the emergency room with it. And I was happy to find a $0 way to display more snapshots in my house. (Those of you who know me know I am always trying to find new ways to do this without have 100 frames in my house.) Thank you for taking the tour of my house, again. Apartment style dorm, here we come!

Well, sniff sniff, I'll have to wait for a few months before I can see it!

Great Job it's so fun to do little things that make you're home feel cute and not boring. Great job on that painting. And Yes we are thinking about staying here for more school, but everything is still totally up in the air!

CUTE! I can't believe that you guys have to move everything for four months. I find it becomes more and more tramatizing to me when I move things. I will be hard for me to move from my current place since I have spent the most years there (since P-town) and it's my first "home".
