Welcome to the tour of our first home! Here is Cameron running through the sprinklers to welcome you! And my hottie husband waits just outside the front door. "So let's get going!"

This is right inside our front door. I took this shot to showcase the painting and also to give orientation on the layout: our room is off to the right and you can see the hallway in the back that goes into the kids' room on the right and toward the bathroom and kitchen on the left.

Here's our front room (and my sweet kids).

Here's a closer shot of the dining area. Please don't make fun of my dining table and awesomely mismatched chairs. A new table and chairs are in the works. They are my pat-on-the-back purchase for a tax season completed and extra money earned. (Last year was a sleep number bed!)

Here is the front room from the other direction. You can see in our room...

...which is where we are now! Here's mine and Tyler's room (and Jane's for now too). Don't you LOVE all the windows?! This is an old house that has been renovated quite a bit, and I love these old houses because of their many windows. I love natural light and open all the curtains every day!

This is by far our favorite room in the house: the kitchen. We all spend a lot of time in here and we entertain in here quite a bit too. You can just see our office desk in the corner here and the laundry nook, two more things that add to our time spent in this room. This shot was taken from the dining area.

I was never convinced of the worth of a nice kitchen--i.e. the granite counters, stainless steel appliances, tiled floors--until living here. IT IS SO NICE!! Just another reason I am convinced I will always have to make due with less square footage since I like things nice but won't spend ridiculously for both the nicety and square footage.

Let me indulge by showing off my seasonal shelf that is in the kitchen. None of the shots quite took it in (the first one kind of did). I got this idea from my sister Holly, and I love having a little area to change decor for about every month.

Here is the hallway coming out of the kitchen and you can see where it loops back to the front room. (Cameron has made this loop his exercise running track and escape from mom and dad route--have you ever tried to chase a kid in a loop? You have to get tricky to catch them!) You can see our shelf storage, something old houses like this run short on, and the changing table right outside the kids' room (and photos cleverly covering the fuse box).

Here's our bathroom off to the left of the hallway. This shot was taken from the same standing point as the last.

Cameron and Jane's room! I happen to love how their room has come together. The rest of my house is very neutral and monochromatic, but I love using lots of color in this room and think it has come together really well.

That completes the tour of our first home, all 1000 square feet. Albeit rented, it is still our first unshared four walls with a yard and garage. I am surprised how much I love being in a house: no shared parking spaces and the associated door dings, lots of windows with greenery filling the views, and no worrying about Cameron noise-control for the sake of the neighbors. And I can't deny the sense of security and well-being a house brings. This sweet little house has added so much sweetness to our memories we've made here.

Ok, I got on here and the first post was Jane, Jane. And while I was enlarging the pix in order to look at it more closely, you posted this post! Because when I clicked "back" Jane, Jane wasn't first anymore! So you and I are one with blogs on Sunday night. on it at the same time!
Cute house! What time of year was this pix taken?
I think your table and chairs are cute. Good job getting a new one, too! i like the animal prints on the wall above the shelves and the kids' baby pix!
I like the pix on top of your hutch, too!
I showed James your room, all the windows, "cool huh?" I say. "It'd be hard to sleep in late," says he. and we both laugh.
I like your kitchen. And that you still have your stereo. I'm trying to get rid of mine, but maybe I'll hold on to it...
I think I like square footage, more. But your kitchen is nice. My seasonal shelf is in my kitchen, too! I love your easter eggs hiding out in the grass plants! Eh-wa!
Cute kids room. I like it. I am so glad that you are making sweet memories with your fam there.
The outside pictures were taken on Saturday. Our peach tree out front has these gorgeous deep, red blossoms. Spring has sprung in Austin.
The house is so cute! I love the tree outside and all your windows. Houses are great because you can be wild and crazy and no one can tell you to stop. Your kitchen is wonderful! Big kitchens are the best. We are so hoping that we can come in September for the big game and see you all. We miss you, Tyler and your sweet children. When we are all together, we will get some serious playing time done!
beautiful!!! I love it!

oh my gosh and guess what else. that picture, the first one with cam with his shirt off and tyler in the back. you need to start being a photographer now. that picture is amazing. so many good things going on in it!! you will get a website as a photographer, and that will be your main page picture.
I do love all the windows, what a fun house!
YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!! My favorite kind of posts! Sorry it's been so long since I've checked your blog! (: So, I have lots to comment on so here goes. . .
I LOVE YOUR HOUSE! first of all. LOVE IT! And of course love your unique and swanky way of decorating. Did you guys paint the walls? or were they that color when you moved in? Love the color!
I love how Cameron and Tyler are both hanging out with their chest bared. (: I know I have photos of my boys doing the same thing!
What did you use to make the pattern over the kids' baby pictures? So neat! Have you guys been in the house since you left your apartment? how come it took so long to get photos up? (: I love seeing it all.
I thought in my "HGTV mind set" - "She should get rid of those mismatched chairs for her photo tour of her house! If she were selling the house, those people on HGTV would say the same thing!" (: ha ha ha! Great job on earning money for a new table. Besides the hand-me-down trundle bed in Jack's room, and the piano!, our kitchen table is the oldest piece of furniture in our house. We got it for a wedding present 12 years ago! And it shows! But, I think I wanna wait until my boys stop dinging it up so bad and scratching it with toys and forks and what not.
I LOVE your kitchen too! LOVE LOVE LOVE the back splash! I wanna put on in our next house for sure! SO SWANK! never knew your kitchen was so nice! Your stove is so nice too. I will definitely have a gas stove in our next place. I love looking at the decor on your counters and walls too. I had to click on each photo (as you did with mine) to get the "full effect with the hump!" Nice job Mindy!
I like your bedroom too! LOVE the windows! Except when there's direct sunlight shining me in my eyes when I'm trying to sleep in the morning! (:
Nice seasons shelf too! Gettin' ready for easter I see. (: You'll all be HERE for easter, . . .just realized that! We'll have to plan a fun easter hunt or something.
Cute kids room too. When are you moving Jane into the crib?
I SOOOO Want to come visit you and your new house! PLEASE PLEASE stay there until fall or winter, okay? I would LOVE to come visit!
Loved the tour!! You are so lucky to be in a house. You are a great decorator too! It looks amazing! How do you do that with the two kids all over the place? Pass me those secrets!
YAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! Easter sunday with everyone?!!? fun!!
Your house pix exude the lovely feelings of your home. It is a great place. I really liked staying there. I LOVE the windows everywhere. SO uplifting with all that natural light. Everyone's comments ar so cute too. Soon you will have a bunch of guests! HA!
Love your House! Makes me want to pack up and move to Texas today.
Cute house Minday and Tyler! I really enjoyed it during my Christmas visit. 1000 square feet is just right, you don't lose anyone, you have enough personal space and lots of areas to decorate. The best! The purple frames look great in Cam-dogs room. Good choice! Also, I see you moved the big plant to the dining area for Jane's bed. Cute :)
